Across the road from the Aldgate Pump Hotel is the 'Pump', and the famous and historic 'General Store' - which is now a fascinating craft shop - The General Store dates from the early 1880's. It has changed its function many times but has remained on of the main attractions in Aldgate. It has been a butcher`s shop general store, and, in the 1890's, the Hills Cash Store.
