What's on in Barraba NSW

Barraba is a thriving pastoral, pulse and agricultural service centre, located in the New England Region of New South Wales, North-West of Sydney on the Manilla River. It is situated about 90 km from Tamworth, and 480 km north-west of Sydney and can be reached by travelling along the famous Fossickers Way which is a tourist route that recognises the gold and gemstones that can be found in the area. In the late 1800`s a gold rush was triggered by discoveries in the surrounding area at Woodsreef, Ironbark Creek and nearby Crow Mountain. The Barraba district has a wonderful variety of attractions, amusements and activities to suit every taste, ranging from bushwalking and exploring at Mount Kaputar, an ancient and long extinct volcano, fossicking for gold and gemstones and enjoying the fabulous fishing, canoeing, boating, kayaking, camping and a variety of other water-based recreation opportunities at Split Rock Dam. Barraba is a great base to stay and enjoy all these delights and enjoy the entertainment and hospitality offered by the local pubs and clubs. Some of the many regional attractions include: # Enjoying bushwalking and the fabulous wildlife and landscapes in the intriguing Enamelware Mountains and surrounding forest and nature reserve areas # Fossicking for gold at Ironbark Creek and other localities # Bushwalking in the delightful rainforest pockets at Mount Kaputar National Park # Taste the unique local wines at Millie Park Vineyard and other local wineries # Enjoy the famous Festival of Barraba, `BarrArbor in November`.
