Burrawang, first established in 1862, is a charming, secluded and quiet town located about 20 km from Mittagong and Bowral in the Southern Highlands Region of New South Wales south of Wollongong and Sydney, north-east of Canberra and west of Nowra. It is perfectly positioned high on a hill overlooking two local water reservoirs: the Wingecarribee and Fitzroy Dams. Its altitude of 750m above seal level, means a pleasant cool climate weather that is perfect for the localized wine makers and for summer tourist, day visits and holidays. Burrawang has numerous tourist enticements and wonderful amenities particularly for lovers of wilderness areas and bushwalking, mountain bikes, picnics and browsing through the art, craft and antique shops. A number of the cottages and church buildings in the locality date right back to the early colonial times and are heritage listed. Whatever the climate Burrawang attracts tourist, fresh mountain air lovers, wilderness walkers, mountain bike riders and picnickers all year round.
