Littlehampton is a tourist town and rural service centre located about 5 km from Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills Region of South Australia. It features a wonderful range of heritage buildings dating back to 1849. One of the oldest churches (built 1862) in South Australia is located in the main street is still being used as a church. There are a number of arts and craft and antiques shops, excellent cafes, restaurants, food outlets, and various retail outlets in the main street. Littlehampton is close to Hahndorf via a minor road through farmland featuring grain, dairying and mixed farming, and through Balhannah via Junction Road. There are many fine boutique wineries and vineyards in the district and in the surrounding region as well as wholesale plant nurseries, market gardens, and hobby farms. There are a number of wonderful hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, houses and other places to stay. Littlehampton is a great place to use as a base for a wonderful holiday exploring the Adelaide Hills Region. Entertainment is focused on the renowned Great Eastern Hotel, nestled on the side of the Main Road, it is a favourite spot with the locals and also with visitors and tourists. You can sit back and relax with a beer and enjoy their excellent meals. Kids (young and old) enjoy travelling on the unique miniature train rides on the Heritage Farm Railway (Junction Road, Littlehampton). The train ride travels through a fascinating historic farm, nd you will see various farm animals, heritage buildings and on return visit the rail museum. There is excellent bushwalking through Coppins Bush. The Littlehampton market is held on the second Saturday of each month featuring: cakes, crafts, jams, pickles, bric-a-brac, plants, fruit and vegetables, and much more.
