The surfing and winery hub of Margaret River is located in the South West Region of Western Australia, about 270 km south of Perth. The famous Margaret River Wine Region has become very popular for its outstanding wines and associated tourist attractions and activities including surfing, fishing, forests and local fresh produce. The region attracts more than half a million visitors annually. In the pioneer days the Margaret River was renowned for its agricultural production, hardwood timber and its stunning coastal scenery and natural reserve areas. There is a wonderful collection of more than sixty boutique breweries, cafes and fine restaurants, fresh food outlets, many with stunning views of the rolling hills clothed in vineyards and stunning surf breaks. Margaret River also has an array of craft outlets and arts galleries. In the area you can discover a rugged scenic coastline, a range of underground caves, towering forests, beautiful sandy beaches and wonderful bushwalking and mountain bike trials through the forests and along the coast. The area is also famous for its surfing at world-class breaks. You can also go rock climbing, whale watching, diving, sailing, abseiling, canoeing, kayaking, and wonderful fishing. There is a wide range of places to stay at Margaret River and in the surrounding area.
