What's on Shoalhaven Region

The beautiful Shoalhaven Region located on the South Coast of New South Wales includes Nowra and the Shoalhaven River, south of the Illawarra and includes the magnificent aquatic playground of Jervis Bay. The Shoalhaven Regions extends from Burrill Lake and Ulludulla in the south (north of Batemans Bay and the Eurobodalla Coast) to Seven Mile Beach and Shoalhaven Heads in the north. The Shoalhaven Region includes the lower reaches of the Shoalhaven River Estuary and regional centre of Nowra and Berry. It also includes many beach resorts and the waterways of Lake Conjola, St Georges Basin and magnificent Jervis Bay. The Shoalhaven Region is a wonderful area for tourists and holiday makers as it offers wide range of fabulous natural attractions, splendid facilities and many aquatic habitat types for water-based recreation including rivers and estuaries, surfing beaches, offshore resources, wetlands, lakes and bays. All these habitats are very popular for fishing and boating. A major attraction is Jervis Bay, which is world-famous for its large sheltered and enclosed waters with pristine crystal clear water, ideal for scuba diving and snorkelling. Some of the many activities on offer include boating, water skiing, secluded beaches, whale watching, dolphin and scenic cruises, bushwalking and diving. Another popular spot for sailing, boating and fishing is the estuarine lagoon of St. Georges Basin. This is a large lake south-west of Jervis Bay with the traditional beach-holiday spot of Sussex Inlet at its mouth. The regional centre of Nowra is a large coastal town and is the commercial centre from the region. Jervis Bay and Nowra are the main centres for entertainment and amusements. There are many delightful towns offering additional entertainment options including Milton, Sussex Inlet, Ulladulla and Burrill Lake. See the individual pages below for information about each of the major towns.
