The charming township of Broke is surrounded by vineyards, wineries and olive groves and is located in the heart of the renowned Hunter Valley, about 190 km north of Sydney and west of Yengo National Park, Broke is ideally positioned less than 30 km from Singleton and 10 km from Pokolbin, Broke and nearby Fordwich, located in the southwest corner of the mid Hunter Valley have a long history linked with wine and wineries. In 1994 the Broke Fordwich district was recognised sub-region formally recognised as part of the Hunter Valley Wine Region. This interesting sub-region has some of the highest quality grapes in the entire Hunter Valley area and is renowned for its unique wines. There are more than 70 local vineyards in the area and many of the local wineries offer cellar doors tastings of
their beautiful wines. Broke is an ideal base for undertaking wine tours throughout the world-famous Hunter Valley Region. The area showcases many small boutique wineries where visitors have the opportunity to talk personally with the owners and winemakers to learn about their boutique wines.
