Capel is a small rural and tourist centre in the Peel Region of Western Australia, between the towns of Bunbury and Busselton, located about 195 km south of Perth. The main local industry in Capel is mineral sands mining, but other pursuits include vineyards and boutique wineries, dairy farms, hobbie farms and more recently blue gums plantations. Tourism is also very important to the area. Nearby is the unique and famous Tuart Forest National Park with diverse habitats for a fascinating range of flora and fauna. This forest contain the last remaining stand of Tuart for on earth. Capel also features more than 30 km of coastal playground offering sheltered swimming, canoeing, kayaking, angling, snorkelling, scuba diving, surfing and many varieties of boating. Gully Falls located in a forest of huge Jarrah trees. Visitors flock to the area in spring to see the stunning displays of native wildflowers. The annual Capel Fest and Art Classic is the premier regional event, attracting up to 17,000 visitors to town every year in April. The event showcases of the best local arts and crafts in the region as well as local wine and food produce.
