The delightful holiday resort centre of Currarong is established in the Shoalhaven Coast of New South Wales, just north of Jervis Bay and east of Nowra, about 200 km from Sydney and Canberra. Currarong Creek, that drains onto the beach is small, sheltered and is ideal for swimming, canoeing and kayaking, especially for families. The beautiful sandy surfing beach faces north over the embayment and usually has only a gentle swell. Currarong is a very well liked family vacation holiday resort for persons of all ages, particularly families who flock to the caravan reserve and holiday dwellings during the summer months. There are numerous recreational amenities and enticements in the locality including swimming; rock, ocean or beach angling, surfing, canoeing, kayaking, kite surfing, windsurfing, snorkelling, rock climbing, scuba diving, bushwalking and Aboriginal heritage sites. There is a magnificent 14 km expanse of beach running from Currarong Beach in the south, to Warrain Beach at Culburra in the north. The long beach is ideal for beach walks, fishing and bike rides. The charming Bosum Beach, situated on the headland about 500m north of Currarong, is a beautiful family beach and sun bathing area with tiny waves. Currarong is an exellent spot for bird observing and nature appreciation as is the gateway to the northern shores of Jervis Bay National Park, including Point Perpendicular and the historic lighthouse. Whales, dolphins and closures can often be spotted from the cliffs. There are many delightful beaches on the Beecroft Peninsula including Honeymoon Bay and Cabbage Tree that can be accessed from a track near the entrance to Currarong.
