Evans Head is a very popular holiday centre and fishing village situated near the entrance to the Evans River in the Northern Rivers Region of New South Wales south of Byron Bay and Ballina. Evans Head is an important commercial port for prawn and fishing trawlers, recreational vessels, sailing boats and cruise charter boats. Fresh prawns and fish are always available from the local Fishermans`s Coop. Evans Head has wonderful surfing beaches, excellent angling of all types, charter fishing boats and excellent recreational facilities and family activities. The long and secluded surfing beaches are very popular for swimming, diving, angling and surfing. The main surfing beach, lying north of the breakwater, is patrolled by surf-lifesavers during the summer months. One of the favourite surfing
spot is at Goanna Headland. There are also an array of safe shallow and sheltered beaches in the Evans River estuary that are ideal for families with children and swimming. The Broadwater and Bundjalung National Parks have many nature walking trials and many secluded and isolated beaches to discover and explore.
