Greenwell Point is a charming vacation and fishing town located on the banks of the Crookhaven River estuary, at the broad mouth of the Shoalhaven Rivern the Shoalhaven Region on the South Coast of New South Wales. Greenwell Point is situated about 10 km from Culburra, close to Orient Point and 15km east of Nowra. It is a commercial fishing port with several prawn and fishing trawlers using it as a port. Greenwell Point is famous for its caravan park, seafood, angling, boating and particularly for its fresh oysters and it has a 25m freshwater pool beside the inlet. Offshore is the angling ground of the Sir John Young Banks and many other reef and sandbank areas. Many locals and visitors launch their boats for offshore angling trips at the boat ramp that provides access to both the ocean and estuary. Greenwell Point has very good amenities and attractions encompassing general shops, service station, cafes, bistros, seafood outlets. The Shoalhaven River estuary is an excellent fishing spot for Whiting, Bream, Luderick, Flathead and Mulloway. Bass fishers work the area of the lower Shoalhaven River from Greenwell Point upstream to the area west of Nowra Bridge. Greenwell Point has a number of Charter vessels for offshore fishing, game fishing and whale watching cruises. The local tavern and bowling / recreational club have bistros and there are many entertainment and amusement options in Nowra which is only 20 km away.
