Kioloa is established on the Shoalhaven Coast, southern New South Wales about halfway between Batemans Bay and Ulladulla, south of Nowra and the Shoalhaven River. Kioloa is a peaceful and relatively secluded spot for an delightful and restful family vacation on the beachside with a wide variety of attractions and vacation activities available at Kioloa and the nearby towns. Kioloa Beach is relatively sheltered from large swells by Belowla Island. There is a caravan park right on the beach which provides excellent conditions for swimming, family play, surfing, snorkelling, canoeing, sea kayaking,windsurfing and kite-surfing. There is very good fishing from the rocks beneath the headlands, the sandy beaches, and from boats on the offshore reefs and sand bars. There is an excellent boat ramp located
at the south end of the beach. There is a beautiful and very popular caravan van park and camping reserve right on the beach that has a small shop that provides rudimentary provisions for visitors. The rock-platforms at either end of Kioloa beach are some of the best on the South Coast. Murramarang National Park and Kioloa State Forest are close to Kioloa Beach and offer land-based recreation. The activities available include: horse rides, picnics, BBQs, bushwalking, mountain biking and discovering the wilderness habitats and local wildlife. The Australian National University has a very interesting museum and study facility at Kioloa. Nearby is Pigeon House Mountain that offers panoramic views, that require a challenging climb through the bush. This trip is well worth the effort as there are
a large range of habitats on the way including: eucalypt forests, rainforest, coastal heathlands, wetlands and Casuarina woodlands.
