Murwillumbah is perfectly situated right in the heart of the spectacular Tweed Valley, in the Northern Rivers Region of new South Wales, about 20 km inland from the unspoiled sandy coastlines of the Tweed Coast. This thriving rural service centre is located just 42 km north of Byron Bay, 41 km south of the Gold Coast, and about 860 km from Sydney. Murwillumbah lies framed by the majestic Mount Warning (a large extinct volcano) and is enclosed by rolling green hills, gently flowing streams and a total of five World Heritage National Parks in close proximity. Murwillumbah boasts the best of both worlds - the magnificent coastline and beaches and the charming rainforests in the hinterland areas away from the coast. The major rural industries are beef cattle grazing, sugar cane, banana plantations, hobby farms and art and crafts and various fresh food products in a small friendly community.
