Ourimbah is a delightful small township and residential suburb situated in the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, about 80 kilometres north of the Sydney and close to Gosford and Terrigal. Ourimbah township consists of a set of scattered local businesses and shops along the Pacific Highway. It is home to the Central Coast campus of the University of Newcastle and has a number of excellent schools. The name 'Ourimbah' is thought to be derived from two Aboriginal words used to describe a manhood ceremony, conducted at various traditional sites around the area. Ourimbah was first settled in the early 1800's, it was famous for its tall timbers and blue gums. It is home to the renowned Tall Timbers Hotel and the Ourimbah-Lisarow RSL Club, which offer entertainment and there are many other options in Gosford and Terrigal.
