Queenscliff was settled in the 1850s and the town has retained many of the historic
building from is foundation years as a Port town. The Heritage of is showcased in the Maritime Museum on
Weeroona Parade and in the Historical Museum in Hesse Street. The main shopping and business centre of Queenscliff,
features many historic shop fronts and buildings that gives the town its charm and soul.
At the heart of the city centre is the ornate Vue Grand Hotel, built in 1881.

Queenscliff is surrounded by water on three sides and the coastal fringe features sandy beaches,
cliffs, rocky outcrops, and historic piers. Recreation is focused on water sports, fishing and boating.
Many cafes and restaurants overlook the harbour. The Bellarine Peninsula Railway runs a collection of
historic trains on restored track between Queenscliff and Drysdale. Queenscliff has a wide range of fabulous
