What's on in Shoalhaven Heads, NSW


Shoalhaven Heads is established close to the northern headland at the mouth of the mighty Shoalhaven River. The township is established at the south end of the well known Seven Mile Beach. It is located in the Shoalhaven Coast Region on the Southern Coast of New South Wales. The surfing at Shoalhaven Heads beach near the breakwater, is excellent under most conditions for bodyboards, Malibu and modern surfboards and for swimming and general surfing. The local surf life saving association offers beach patrols throughout the summer months. There are excellent amenities for a broad variety of water-based recreation acrivities in the ocean, estuary and river. Fishing is very popular with a wide variety of options including beach, rock, river shore and from boats in the river and offshore. Bushwalking is also very popular in the National Park that adjoins Shoalhaven Heads and along the beach. There are excellent local entertainment options including the Golf Club, Bowling and Recreation Club and tavern and the local shopping centre has a cafe, bakery, butchers shop, as well as a Chinese reataurant and wood-fired pizza outlet. There are numerous wine makers close by, in the Shoalhaven Wine Region and nearby is the village of Berry that boasts, cafes, restaurants, pubs, antique shops, specialty stores and heritage buildings. The flourishing local township of Nowra is located about 20 km inland upstream along the Nowra River.
