Tea Gardens is a small holiday centre, that offers family-friendly holidays and weekend getaway options for tourists and visitors, Tea Gardens is located on the northern shores of Port Stephens adjoining Hawkes Nest which lies on the opposite side of the Myall River. Tea Gardens has a wonderful set of boat ramps and facilities that provide direct access to the stunning waterways of the Myall River and the lakes and waterways of the Myall Lakes complex. There is fantastic water-based recreation including: canoeing, kayaking, sailing, boating, boating, water-skiing and fishing. You can hire a tinnie, runabout, yacht or houseboat and cruise the lakes. You can also join a dolphin or whale watching cruise, or a scuba diving or fishing charter boat trip to get access to the offshore waters. The
adjoining towns of Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest connected by what is known as the `Singing Bridge`, because the bridge hums in strong south-westerly winds. There is a wide variety of holiday accommodation in the area, most of which is on the waterfront. The local economy has generally been focused on timber, seafood, tourism and sand mining.
