Sydney's delightful and unique Hills district is located in the north-western part of Greater Sydney between Parramatta and north east to Wisemans Ferry on the Hawkesbury River. The district is situated about 90 minutes from Sydney Central Business District. The area varies widely from native bush, to busy suburban streets to rural landscapes and horse paddocks and tiny villages. The Hills District includes the hilly suburbs, many with 'hills' in their names along the north-west strip of land, south of the Hawkesbury River in Sydney including the Hornsby Shire, Baulkham Hills Shire and parts of the Parramatta and Blacktown. Some of the many suburbs in the area include Castle Hill, Rouse Hill, West Pennant Hills, Pennant Hills and Baulkham Hills. The area has many parks, reserves and riverside natural environments. The area has a distinctive landscape with rolling hills, bushland, market gardens, pastures and urban sprawl. The area is very popular for bush walking and horse riding. Some of the other suburbs are in the area are Winston Hills, Seven Hills, Thompsons Corner, Rouse Hill, Quakers Hill, North Rocks, Kenthurst, Kellyville, Glenwood, Glenorie, Glenhaven, Galston, Dural, and Cherrybrook.
