What's on in Traralgon, Victoria


The holiday centre and tourist hub town of Traralgon is located in the Latrobe Valley, about 168 km south-east of Melbourne, It lies in the heart of the thriving West Gippsland Region in Victoroa. Located near the town is the huge open-cut coal mine and the famous Loy Yang Power Complex that supplies a large portion of the electricity for Victoria. The famous Strzelecki Ranges, to the south of the town has many fabulous, scenic tourist drive routes and bushwalking trails, including the Grand Ridge Road and the scenic route to the Tarra Bulga National Park. To the north are the lovely alpine ranges which includes the recreational activities and entertainment facilities offered by the ski resort of Mount Baw Baw, the Thompson Dam and a number of state and national parks. Traralgon is an important service centre to the energy sector, many local businesses and the local agriculture, pastoral, timber and papermaking industries. Traralgon also has many excellent restaurants, pubs and entertainment venues such as the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre.
