The Mid-North Coast holiday centre of Tuncurry, with its twin city or Forster is located about 290 km north of Sydney near the entrance to Wallis Lake, which is part of the Great Lakes Region that includes the waterways of the Myall Lakes area. The twin cities are joined by a long concrete bridge. Their combined facilities provide a wonderful holiday destination and weekend getaway venue with fabulous entertainment and tourist facilities supporting a wide range of activities. Tuncurry caters for a plethora of recreational pursuits especially water sports based on the lakes, rivers, waterways and the Pacific Ocean. There is excellent sailing, boating, diving, fishing, surfing, canoeing, kayaking and swimming - all in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. One of the most renowned beaches is 'The
Bar' located at the southern end of Nine Mile Beach. This beach has great surf and swimming and also has grassy picnic areas and BBQ facilities, and lots of rock pools for the lids to explore to explore. Tuncurry is famous for its offshore fishing charters and there are many fabulous charter boats available and excellent boat ramps for launching your own boat. There is excellent shoreline fishing at the breakwater, the beach, in the lake or from the coastal rock platforms are also very popular, targeting Whiting, Flathead, Mullet, Bream, Trevally, and Luderick. In summer prawns can also be caught at night in the lake using nets and lamps. Whale watching Cruises and Deep sea fishing charters operate locally and you can also take a leisurely scenic ferry cruises around Wallis Lake.The entertainment
in the area is focused on the twin clubs of Sporties Tuncurry and Club Forster, with both clubs offering live entertainment and boasting a great range of sporting facilities.
