Waroona is a rural service town and tourist centre located in the foothills of the Darling Range, between Pinjarra and Harvey, in the Peel region of Western Australia, just 110 km south of Perth, the Capital of Western Australia The main industries in Waroona are mixed agriculture, beef cattle, dairy and tourism. The local farms depend on the water from the irrigation system linked to the Drakesbrook Weir. Both Drakesbrook Weir and the Waroona Dam are major recreational areas and have great facilities for a broad range of activities. There are camping grounds, BBQ and picnic spots. Local activities include hiking and mountain bikes, swimming fishing, kayaking, canoeing and water-skiing.
